Classification Of Gas Springs

According to its characteristics and application fields, gas springs are also called support rods, gas supports, angle adjusters, gas pressure rods, dampers, etc. According to the structure and function of the gas spring, there are several types of gas springs, such as free-type gas springs, self-locking gas springs, traction gas springs, random stop gas springs, swivel chair gas springs, gas pressure rods, and dampers. The product is widely used in automobile, aviation, medical equipment, furniture, machinery manufacturing and other fields.

First, the free gas spring (support rod) (Lift gas spring) is the most widely used gas spring. It mainly plays a supporting role, with only the shortest and longest positions, and cannot stop by itself during the stroke. It is the most widely used in automobile, textile machinery, printing equipment, office equipment, construction machinery and other industries. Free-type gas springs have been widely used in automobiles, construction machinery, printing machinery, textile equipment and other industries due to their lightness, stable operation, convenient operation and favorable price. Or alpine environment, acidic or alkaline environment, etc.

Second, the self-locking gas spring (adjuster, controllable gas spring) (Lockable gas spring) is the most used in medical devices. This kind of gas spring can be stopped at any position in the stroke with the help of some release mechanisms, and has a large locking force (can reach more than 10000N) after stopping.

Third, the free stop gas spring (friction gas spring, balance gas spring) is mainly used in kitchen furniture, medical equipment and other fields. Its characteristics are intermediate between free-type gas springs and self-locking gas springs: it does not require any external structure and can be stopped at any position in the stroke, but there is no additional locking force. Mainly through the controller (handle or cable) to achieve the effect. It can also be achieved by the expansion and contraction of the piston rod. When stopped at the desired position with the controller, the valve will close independently and the piston rod will lock in the desired position. When locking occurs, locking can be achieved. However, if the locking force is exceeded, the locking function will no longer be effective.

Fourth, the swivel chair gas spring (air pressure rod) is mainly used on the swivel chair to adjust the position. Its characteristics are controllable and the demand is relatively large.

Fifth, traction gas springs (gas traction springs) (Gas traction springs) are a special kind of gas springs: other gas springs are in the longest position when they are in a free state, that is, they are in the longest position after being subjected to external force. The long position moves to the shortest position, while the free state of the traction gas spring is in the shortest position, and runs from the shortest position to the longest position when being pulled. There are also corresponding free type and self-locking type in the traction gas spring.

Sixth, the damper (Damper) is used more in automobiles and medical equipment, and its characteristic is that the resistance changes with the speed of operation. It can significantly dampen the speed of the connected mechanism. The damper is mainly used for buffering, and its biggest feature is that the force of the gas spring changes with the movement speed. When the action point of the force guiding the gas spring moves relatively fast, the resistance of the spring increases significantly, while when the action point moves slowly, there is almost no resistance. Dampers are mainly used in washing machines, refrigerators and other industries.

In addition, there are ordinary steel gas springs and stainless steel gas springs in terms of materials. The amount of ordinary steel gas springs is the largest, and stainless steel gas springs are mostly used in places with harsh environmental requirements, such as food machinery, medical equipment, military industry, high temperature characteristics and applications.
